I'm really surprised that Adobe Premiere advertises and promotes itself as a "new way" or new workflow of editing that is source agnostic / can take footage from various codecs and cameras without having to re-encode first, and yet the project manager (a very key and essential tool in post-production management) is so buggy and basically inept.Īnd, so far, the only solution that I can see, is, yes, to re-encode all my footage to into one codec prior to editing - some single codec that adobe premiere likes so it will trim when I use the project manager.Īm I missing something? Has anyone been able to solve this? Final Cut 7 also had issues with failing to trim on media managed projects. I'm somewhat new to Premiere - used Final Cut 7 for about 15 years, and switched to Premiere 6 months ago. I tried using Render and Replace on each of these clips in my timeline, and then running the PMC&T - Still did not work, and in fact created some bad clips in the timeline and I had to recover a previous version of project. It's especially problematic because many of these sources tend to have long takes, like with a GoPro camera or DJI Inspire aerial, where the camera just rolls uninterrupted for long stretches.

footage from Digital Bolex (these clips are image sequence of DNG files, and yet fail to consolidate as movie files, despite checking the box that says "Convert Image Sequences to Clips") HD ProRes 422HQ footage from an old Sony Cam / Cineflex aerial shoot (with LOOOONG takes, so this is problematic)

The following source files will NOT - Project Manager Consolidate and Transcode (PMC&T) fails to trim the following clips: I'm currently working in a project that uses footage from many different sources. I'm following for studying it, and can't find an answer there nor everywhere else. How does it work? what is the matter with the tracks? what do the Video and Audio tracks selectors do ? if I click on all of them or none of them, nothing changes in the behaviour of.

it edits through all the video tracks !! the video on V1 is trimmed and the soundtrack on A2 is trimmed as well. I want to perform a Top and Tail trim on a video on the V2. I have a soundtrack on A2 (A1 was used for a video with audio at the beginning of the sequence). They don't have the audio, I just need the video and I didn't import the audio in the timeline. Situation: I have 2 or more video tracks.

But since I left Apple forever and back to windows. The main problem is: I come from FCPx and it was super easy ! everything was really much easier.
